In 2018, David Layardi started brewing coffee for colleagues in the office pantry. Not for profit — just to share a good cup. From there, 'Kopi Dalar' was born: 'kopi' plus the nickname 'Dalar'.

In 2018, David Layardi started brewing coffee for colleagues in the office pantry. Not for profit — just to share a good cup. From there, 'Kopi Dalar' was born: 'kopi' plus the nickname 'Dalar'.
In October 2025, Kopi Dalar officially opened a new chapter — from Indonesia to the world, with the first chapter in Japan. The rounded brown logo — the 'o' in 'kopi' as a cup with rising beans — was designed by colleague Theo in about an hour, March 2020. 'An investment in whimsy,' he called it.
Since arriving in Japan, the global community keeps growing.
